Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, Inc. seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead geotechnical engineering and CMT projects in the region. You’ll mentor staff, support field operations, and provide client-facing technical leadership while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

The role progresses toward Associate Principal Engineer, with independence on technical work and opportunities for business development. Salary ranges and benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 8–10 years of progressive geotechnical engineering or consulting experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication with clients and colleagues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with RocScience, Ensoft, Tablogs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Geotechnical Engineering projects under Principal supervision.
• Work independently, obtaining guidance as needed.
• Lead and manage CMT projects, particularly ones you were involved with in the Geotechnical phase.
• Prepare proposals, cost estimates, engineering reports, specifications, and project correspondence.
• Review, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and field test data for reports and recommendations.
• Represent firm in client meetings.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams.
• Support business development by maintaining client relationships.
• Support branch operations and ensure safety/permitting compliance.
