HDR, Inc. is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Billings, MT as part of its Water Business Group. The role focuses on planning geotechnical investigations, analyses, and reporting for transportation and major projects while coordinating with designers and leading teams.

The position requires a PE license, 10 years of experience, and expertise with Bentley, GeoStudio/Ensoft, and PLAXIS/Itasca FLAC. HDR emphasizes employee ownership and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• 10 years of experience required
• Professional Engineer license recognized by licensing board for location
• Experience with MS Office, GIS, and CADD as appropriate
• Experience with Bentley suite of geotechnical software (gINT/OpenGround/LeapFrog)
• Knowledge of advanced numerical modeling techniques (Finite Difference/Finite Element/Discrete Element) and commercial software
• Active participation in our employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare geotechnical investigations or design activities with significant impact on major programs
• Participate in marketing efforts for internal and external clients
• Organize, conduct, and coordinate or manage geotechnical investigations for transportation and other projects
• Perform geotechnical analyses, prepare reports and coordinate with designers to implement recommendations
• Function as Technical Specialist or Project Manager on large projects when needed (not sole focus)
• Supervise professionals, technicians and design teams as needed
• Perform other duties as needed
