Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation is seeking two Senior Geotechnical Engineers to lead advanced geotechnical analyses and provide statewide technical leadership for complex transportation projects across Washington.

You will mentor staff, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and support design and construction on design‑bid‑build, mega, and design‑build projects, while ensuring compliance with standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Proven geotechnical engineering principles applications.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong written and oral communication with technical/non‑technical audiences.
• Experience with field exploration, lab testing, and foundation design.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced geotechnical analyses and designs for complex projects.
• Provide technical leadership for diverse delivery methods (design‑bid‑build, mega, design‑build).
• Mentor staff and coordinate geotechnical teams.
• Identify and address geotechnical issues affecting design, schedule, or budget.
• Provide geotechnical construction support and review contract provisions.
