Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager reporting to our Corporate Headquarters office in San Diego, California. The role offers hybrid work with remote, in-office, and occasional field work opportunities while enabling leadership, mentorship, and client engagement across multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years of geotechnical engineering experience with project management, California PE, and a strong background in field exploration,

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in civil/geotechnical/geological engineering; Master’s preferred
• California PE license required; GE license strongly desired; able to obtain within one year
• Approximately 12+ years of geotechnical engineering experience with PM experience
• Strong leadership, communication, and client interaction skills
• Proficiency with standard business software and geotechnical packages listed

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with multidiscipline teams to prepare proposals and execute projects
• Safely manage field exploration programs and construction oversight
• Perform and oversee geotechnical analyses (soil/rock, foundations, settlement, slope stability)
• Prepare geotechnical reports, memorandums, and specifications
• Engage with clients and manage budgets, schedules, and scope of work
• Mentor junior staff and manage project teams and deliverables
