Placements24 client in Welkom, South Africa, is seeking a seasoned Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their team. You will assess soil conditions, design foundations, and provide geotechnical solutions for mining operations and construction projects in the Free State.

The role requires at least 8 years of relevant experience, a geotechnical specialization, and proficiency with GeoStudio and Plaxis. You will lead investigations, develop design reports, and guide site teams with a strong emphasis

Qualifications

Degree in geotech civil engineering with minimum 8 years of field and design experience.
Experience with mining-related geotechnical challenges is highly desirable.
Proficiency in GeoStudio and Plaxis required.
Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering.

Responsibilities

Conduct site investigations, including soil sampling and testing, to determine subsurface conditions.
Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, and excavations.
Develop detailed geotechnical design reports and recommendations.
Oversee drilling and site investigation programs, ensuring data quality and standards.
Provide technical guidance to construction teams on geotechnical challenges.
