Job summary

Atlas is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead investigations, analyses, and reporting for projects across New Jersey and the greater Philadelphia market. You will own projects from proposal through final report, oversee field operations, and deliver signed, sealed geotechnical reports to public and private clients.

The role requires 8+ years of geotechnical consulting experience, NJ P.E., strong writing and communication skills, and a drive to grow our geotechnical practice.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis.
• NJ P.E. license or ability to obtain by comity within 6 months.
• 8+ years of progressive geotechnical consulting experience including project management.
• Valid driver's license; ability to visit active construction sites.
• Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software (Slide/SLOPE-W, LPILE, APILE/Group, Settle3, gINT).
• Working knowledge of NJDOT, PennDOT, AASHTO/ASTM geotechnical standards; NJ DEP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, scope, and price subsurface investigation programs and manage drilling subcontractors.
• Perform geotechnical analyses: bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, lateral earth pressures, deep foundations, pavement design, seismic site class.
• Prepare and seal geotechnical reports, letters, and construction-phase recommendations as engineer of record.
• Direct laboratory soils testing programs (AASHTO/ASTM) and interpret results.
• Provide construction-phase geotechnical support: footing bottoms, fill acceptance, pile observation, dewatering/excavation review.
• Serve as senior client contact; support proposals, BD, and growth of geotechnical practice.
• Mentor and provide technical oversight to staff engineers and field technicians.
• Coordinate with Atlas CMT, environmental, and structural teams on integrated scopes.
