Job summary

Atlas is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead investigations, analyses and reporting for the Burlington, NJ sector, serving as engineer of record on assigned projects.

You will manage programs, coordinate drilling crews, mentor junior staff, and deliver signed geotechnical reports to public and private clients across New Jersey and the greater Philadelphia market, while collaborating with cross-discipline teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis.
• NJ PE license or ability to obtain by comity within 6 months; PA PE a plus.
• 8 years of progressive geotechnical consulting experience including project management and report sealing.
• Valid drivers license; ability to visit active construction sites.
• Familiarity with NJDOT NJDEP NJ UCC standards; logging software knowledge.
• Entrepreneurial, interested in growing geotechnical practice beyond staffing.

Responsibilities

• Plan scope and price subsurface investigation programs, borings, pits, CPT, geophysics, and manage drilling subcontractors.
• Perform geotechnical analyses including bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, and site classification.
• Prepare and seal geotechnical reports as engineer of record.
• Direct laboratory soils testing programs (AASHTO/ASTM) and interpret results.
• Provide construction-phase geotechnical support (footing bottoms, dewatering, excavation review).
• Mentor staff engineers and field technicians; coordinate with Atlas teams.
