Job summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry seeks a geotechnical engineer with 5+ years of progressive geotechnical experience to lead proposals, data collection, and site investigations for a variety of structures, roads, and bridges.

The role requires strong communication, project management, and the ability to generate technical reports, design recommendations, and construction documents. Oregon licensure or the ability to obtain quickly is preferred.

Qualifications

• Five years progressive experience in geotechnical engineering.
• PE license in civil engineering or registration in geotechnical specialty preferred.
• Oregon registration or ability to obtain within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Generate geotechnical study proposals and reports for a range of structures, roads, and bridges.
• Collect, document, analyze, and report field data.
• Coordinate field explorations and laboratory testing.
• Develop design and construction recommendations.
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports, memos, and construction documents.
• Analyze subsurface data from borings, test pits, labs, and field observations.
• Develop recommendations for foundations, slopes, pavements, and site grading.
• Perform site visits and field observations to evaluate soil and groundwater conditions.
• Collaborate with geologists and field staff to ensure data accuracy.
• Work with civil teams to integrate geotechnical recommendations into site design and permitting.
