Job summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry, LLC is seeking an experienced, licensed Professional Engineer with geotechnical expertise for a role that blends office and field work. You will engage in geotechnical studies, coordinate field tests, and collaborate with geologists and civil engineers on diverse site projects in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

The position calls for at least five years of geotechnical engineering experience, Oregon licensure or eligibility, and strong report-writing abilities.

Qualifications

• PE license in civil engineering with geotechnical focus.
• Registration in Oregon or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Minimum of five years progressive geotechnical engineering experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to generate geotechnical proposals and reports.
• Strong attention to detail and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Generating geotechnical engineering study proposals and reports for various structures, roads, and bridges.
• Collect, document, analyze and report field data.
• Coordinate field explorations and laboratory testing.
• Develop design and construction recommendations.
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports, memoranda, design recommendations, and construction documents.
• Analyze subsurface data including borings, test pits, lab testing, and field observations.
• Develop recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, pavements, earthwork, slope stability, and site grading.
• Perform site visits and field observations to evaluate soil and groundwater conditions.
• Collaborate with geologists and field staff to ensure data collection and interpretation.
• Work with civil engineering teams across offices to integrate geotechnical recommendations into site design and permitting.
