Job summary

SOCOTEC has an opening in Salt Lake City, Utah for a Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer or Senior Geotechnical Engineer. The role focuses on leading geotechnical projects, client relationships, and winning work through proposals and marketing.

The successful candidate will manage projects, evaluate geologic and seismic hazards, and provide mentorship to junior staff while maintaining high standards of technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering is required.
• MS in a related field preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Minimum 10+ years of geotechnical experience.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under deadlines.
• Geophysical and environmental project experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with marketing and business development
• Prepare geotechnical proposals with scopes of services and proposed fees
• Respond to technical questions for project solicitations
• Manage geotechnical projects
• Evaluate geologic and seismic hazards
• Prepare geotechnical evaluation reports
• Maintain client relationships
• Work directly with clients to assure successful project completion
• Provide direction and review engineering work products
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical support
