Job summary

LVI Associates in New York seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide technical leadership across major infrastructure projects nationwide, leveraging deep geotechnical expertise. The successful candidate will work with estimating, preconstruction, engineering and field teams to develop practical foundation and earthwork solutions for transportation, bridges, tunnels and airports.

This role requires a PE license (NY/NJ preferred), 10+ years of experience, and a track record of delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience on heavy civil projects.
• Professional Engineer license; NY/NJ licensure preferred.
• Expertise in foundation engineering and earthworks.
• Experience with design-build projects preferred.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, DOT, OSHA and NYC Building Code.
• Experience with instrumentation and performance monitoring.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.

Responsibilities

• Plan subsurface investigations and field exploration.
• Prepare geotechnical analyses and design recommendations.
• Perform calculations using standard software.
• Review contract documents and baseline reports.
• Identify geotechnical risks and mitigation strategies.
• Support proposal development and value engineering.
• Mentor junior engineers and support the team.
• Coordinate with structural, civil, transportation and environmental teams.
• Provide practical engineering recommendations during construction.
• Ensure compliance with codes, safety and quality standards.
