Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen Inc. seeks a senior geotechnical engineer to lead geotechnical design for major transportation projects in New York. You will coordinate with structural, roadway, and construction teams to shape foundations, earth-retaining systems, and subsurface investigations.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of experience, NY P.E. or eligibility within 6 months, and strong writing and QA/QC skills. The role requires travel to project sites and offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

B.S. in Civil Engineering with geotechnical focus.
M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
8+ years geotechnical design/field for transportation.
New York P.E. or eligible within 6 months.
Geotechnical software: gINT, LPILE, Settle3, SLIDE/FLAC/PLAXIS.
Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and NYSDOT/MTA/Port Authority standards.
Strong technical writing, QA/QC, and coordination skills.
Valid driver's license; able to visit project sites.

Responsibilities

Lead geotechnical engineering for highway, bridge, transit, and maritime projects.
Interface with structural engineers for foundations and earth-retaining systems.
Plan subsurface investigations and lab testing programs.
Perform and review geotechnical analyses and reports.
Prepare calculations, drawings, and geotechnical design reports per standards.
Provide construction-phase support including RFIs and monitoring.
Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Contribute to proposals and client presentations.
