Job summary

WSP is seeking a Sr.GeotechnicalEngineer in Knoxville, TN to provide geotechnical engineering guidance for multi-site due diligence, investigation, remediation, permitting, and construction of infrastructure projects.

You will lead data collection, model development, and reporting, while mentoring entry-level engineers and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to meet regulatory and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 5–7 years of post-education experience in engineering with geotechnical design.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Knowledge of geotechnical engineering design including foundations, slope stability, seismic engineering, retaining walls, earth retention, rock mechanics, settlement, ground improvement, dewatering, and permits.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute site data collection and analysis across soils, rocks, and hydrologic data.
• Maintain QA/QC standards for measurements, data analysis, and reporting.
• Carry out geotechnical investigations, including subsurface exploration and settlement analysis.
• Develop construction plans, specs, and cost estimates; coordinate with owners and sub-consultants.
• Incorporate advanced modeling and design methods for safe, functional infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners, and scientists on multiple projects.
