Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Sr. Geotechnical Engineer in Knoxville, TN to provide guidance on due diligence, investigation, design, and construction of infrastructure projects. You will prepare reports, develop foundation and earth-retention designs, and lead geotechnical analyses across multiple sites, ensuring high-quality deliverables.

The role requires strategic thinking, strong communication, and mentorship to junior staff, with travel as needed for fieldwork and compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related field.
5–7 years of post-education engineering experience with geotechnical design.
Engineer in Training Certification or equivalent licensure in progress.
Experience with deep and shallow foundation design and slope stability assessments.
Familiarity with permitting, design/builder, and project work for infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in geotechnical software and data interpretation.

Responsibilities

Lead geotechnical investigations, analysis, and reporting for multiple projects.
Develop foundations, slopes, earth retention, and ground improvement designs.
Coordinate with owners, disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients on design/permit documents.
Prepare technical reports and presentations with findings and recommendations.
Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and staff.
Ensure QA/QC and compliance with regulations and standards.
