Job summary

CDM Smith is looking for aSenior Geotechnical Engineer to work on excavation, dewatering, foundations, dams and geo-environmental projects. You will design complex systems, review drafts for regulatory compliance, and ensure adherence to firm policies.

You will also mentor junior staff and support proposals with technical input. The role requires a PE license, a bachelor's degree in a geotechnical or related field, and about 7 years of experience, with up to 40% travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license required.
7 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

With general direction, creates excavation, dewatering, foundations, dams/reservoirs/levees, geo-environmental projects.
Reviews draft designs for compliance with regulations and signs off on completed designs.
Ensures firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
Performs site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
Updates design requirements as necessary.
Provides technical guidance and training to junior staff.
Mentors junior staff for growth within the discipline.
May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.
