Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Bellevue, WA to join the Civil & Structural Engineering Practice. You will inspect, analyze, and evaluate geotechnical systems such as foundations and walls, and frequently prepare repair concepts.

Key qualifications include a Ph.D. or MS in Geotechnical Engineering with several years' experience, US/Canada licensure, and strong analytical and client-relations abilities.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university + 3 years of post-graduate experience
• Alternatively, MS in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering + minimum of 5 years of experience
• P.E. License (US) strongly preferred; P.Eng (Canada) will also be considered – must be licensed in the US and/or Canada
• Geology/Geological Engineering, Groundwater/Surface Water Hydrology or Structural Engineering coursework a strong plus
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with potential to develop client relations
• Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy, ability to work in fast-paced environments, leadership
• Ability to work independently or with multiple groups and interact with engineers, staff, and clients
• Ability to gather information from diverse sources and synthesize technical conclusions
• Knowledge of geotechnical modeling software, GIS, and imaging software a strong plus

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections and subsurface explorations
• Perform geotechnical and civil engineering analyses
• Assist with peer review of design and construction of geotechnical systems
• Prepare conceptual designs for repair/restoration of damaged geotechnical systems
