Job summary

State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer IV for the Bureau of Materials and Research in Concord, NH. The role focuses on coordinating subsurface exploration and delivering advanced geotechnical evaluations for statewide civil projects.

Minimum qualifications require a licensed Professional Engineer in Civil, Civil Highway, Geo Technical or Structural engineering, with 4 years post-baccalaureate experience (or 6 years with a Bachelor's) and a relevant

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited institute.
• Four years of post-baccalaureate experience in engineering.
• Six years of post-baccalaureate experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Civil, Civil Highway, Geo Technical or Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering reports with geotechnical data, interpretations and recommendations for design, construction and maintenance of roads, bridges and structures.
• Review in-house geotechnical work and reports by a team of civil engineers, geologists and earth scientists.
• Participate in design meetings and prepare contract specifications for geotechnical work.
• Plan and supervise subsurface exploration, field instrumentation programs and geotechnical lab testing.
• Prepare and check complex geotechnical calculations (slope stability, bearing capacity, lateral/axial capacity).
• Provide geotechnical support during construction and evaluate contractor claims.
