Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. This may include performing and/or leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes. Research and resolve design and construction problems. Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports. Apply sound engineering principles and communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in sectors such as public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Lead safety efforts for the team, ensuring adherence to safety rules and guidelines. Create and model a safe work environment; promote pre-task planning for all projects.
2. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices, ensuring continuous quality improvement on projects.
3. Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
4. Develop understanding of project-related risks and how to mitigate them, familiar with company risk policies.
5. Provide technical direction for routine and complex projects, including conceptualizing initial designs or investigative approaches for major project phases.
6. Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering work, including complex features such as conflicting design requirements.
7. Review projects involving complex investigation techniques and supervise analysis and recommendations in reports to clients; conduct technical reviews of reports.
8. Lead technical training and make informed decisions based on current technology issues.
9. Lead marketing, sales, and business development efforts.
10. Supervise less experienced engineers or technical support personnel.
11. Serve as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
2. Minimum 8-11 years of experience.
3. Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
4. Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
5. Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
6. Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status required.

Preferred Certification:

• Authorized Project Reviewer status preferred.
