This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for our Redmond, WA office, with options for Tacoma, WA, Portland, OR, or Seattle, WA. You will work on projects within our Civil Ground Engineering & Materials, Earth & Environment Team, helping meet client objectives and solve challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze data from sites, samples, surveys, and geotechnical data for project development and design.
  • Maintain quality standards for measurements, analysis, and reporting.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering tasks including investigations, soil analysis, slope stability, earthquake engineering, and foundation design.
  • Contribute to modeling, design, and safety assessments for infrastructure projects.
  • Work independently or with teams to execute project tasks, ensuring compliance with specifications and permits.
  • Verify site characteristics and assess safety risks related to environmental and geotechnical factors.
  • Prepare data visualizations, reports, sketches, and presentations.
  • Support project scoping, technical report writing, and field investigations.
  • Guide junior staff and assist in health and safety planning.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and company policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience and a Professional Engineer license.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical design, including foundations, slope stability, and earth retention.
  • Experience with infrastructure projects, regulations, and software like SLIDE, Plaxis, etc.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, with attention to safety and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s or Doctorate in geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience with numerical modeling and project management.
  • Washington PE license or ability to obtain within a year.
  • First Aid and CPR certification desirable.
Benefits and Compensation

WSP offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement plans. Salary range for Washington: $99,800 - $133,300.
