Job summary

Legacy Engineering is seeking a Geotechnical/CMT Senior Engineer to collaborate with our geotechnical and materials testing teams on diverse projects for public and private sector clients. You will perform test boring observations, laboratory analyses, prepare geotechnical reports, manage field staff, and review daily field reports with a strong emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Civil Engineering, familiarity with geotechnical software, and are progressing toward PE

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• EIT working toward PE preferred.
• Familiarity with subsurface exploration or construction inspection.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software such as GeoSystems, Gint, L-Pile, MSEW.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review field reports and geotechnical reports.
• Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements to support project designs.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
• Review and interpret data and test results.
• Prepare technical proposals, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day to day correspondence.
• Develop and maintain clients and actively participate in professional and related industry organizations.
• Support field instrumentation and monitoring activities.
• Support the office’s Geotechnical Engineering and CMT departments as required.
• Follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and provide all required permitting.

Job description

The Geotechnical/CMT Senior Engineer will work collaboratively with our knowledgeable geotechnical and materials testing/inspections departments and assist with a wide variety of projects for public and private sector clients. Some duties may include but not limited to; test boring/test pit observations, laboratory analysis, preparation of geotechnical reports/calculation, management of field staff, review of daily field reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review field reports, internal correspondence, and geotechnical engineering reports.
• Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements to support project designs.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
• Review and interpret data and test results.
• Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day to day correspondence.
• Develop and maintain clients and actively participate in professional and related industry organizations.
• Support field instrumentation and monitoring activities.
• Support the office’s Geotechnical Engineering and CMT departments as required.
• Follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and provide all required permitting.
• Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements; prepare designs.

Skills, Knowledge, Expertise

• BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Familiarity with engineering and construction plans/specifications.
• Prior experience with subsurface exploration or construction inspection a plus.
• EIT working toward PE preferred.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software (i.e., GeoSystems, Gint, L-Pile, MSEW, etc.) a plus.

The compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $115,000/annually, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description.
