Job summary

Terracon in Akron, Ohio seeks Exploration Team Members to perform subsurface exploration using drilling and in-situ testing. You will operate geotechnical drill rigs, install instrumentation, survey, and prepare field and DOT logs as part of a multi-person team.

The role requires mastery in problem solving, leadership to train a 2–3 person crew, proficiency in regional drilling methods, and adherence to safety and quality standards; DOT medical card within 30 days is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate mastery of problem solving and implement solutions on complex problems.
• Operate geotechnical drill rigs to advance boreholes to required depths.
• Lead and train a 2–3 person drill crew in all drilling tasks.
• Proficient in drilling methods common to the region.
• Install instrumentation and monitoring wells.
• Perform routine repairs and maintenance on equipment.
• Survey, site reconnaissance and utility clearance tasks.
• Transport drilling equipment to project locations.
• Inspect and maintain equipment.
• Lead project preparation and pre-task planning.
• Train junior staff in drilling methods.
• Follow safety rules and report safety issues to management.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.
