Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Senior Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to lead mine waste containment design and geotechnical analyses. The role focuses on tailings facilities, heap leach layouts, and interdisciplinary project leadership across mining projects in the U.S.

You will mentor junior engineers, liaise with clients, and manage projects from scoping to delivery, while ensuring QA/QC and safety standards are met in a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/geotechnical engineering or closely related field.
• 5–7 years of post-education engineering and geotechnical design experience.
• Professional Engineer registration required.
• Experience in tailings management and heap leach facility design in mining.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design of mine waste containment facilities and heap leach layouts.
• Manage geotechnical field investigations, lab testing, data interpretation and analyses.
• Direct complex geotechnical analyses: soil mechanics, stability, seepage, thermal modelling.
• Manage projects within scope, schedule and budget with senior oversight.
• Contribute to client relationships and business development activities.
• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff.
• Support proposals and design work packages for client needs.
• Maintain QA/QC, safety, and compliance across projects.
