Job summary

IEM is seeking a Full Time SME - Geospatial Analyst to support emergency management and recovery projects across the United States. The role allows remote work within the U.S. and occasional travel, with a preference for candidates in Santa Fe, NM.

Responsibilities include GIS development, hazard modeling with HEC-RAS, and creating complex maps and reports. Strong Esri product knowledge and programming skills (Python, HTML/JS) are required for web GIS solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Engineering, Geography, Earth Sciences, Urban Planning, Information Systems, or related field with GIS emphasis.
• 10 years’ geospatial experience with GIS, HEC-RAS, and related tools.
• Certification such as professional engineer for relevant SME type.
• Strong knowledge of Esri products: ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Survey123, Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, Model Builder.
• Hazus and HEC-RAS expertise for hazard modeling and disaster impact estimation.
• Ability to work with elevation data (3DEP, LiDAR) and various GIS data formats.

Responsibilities

• Perform HEC-RAS 2D on grid modeling.
• Utilize GIS to plan, develop, and implement static maps and web mapping applications.
• Create defensible maps and reports on erosion repair, risk reduction, and cascading impacts.
• Design and maintain geographic data files and spatial data models.
• Develop complex GIS apps using HTML, JavaScript, Python and ArcGIS APIs/SDKs.
• Develop GIS web services from external feeds (CSV, JSON, XML, API).
• Meet with customers to define business and functional requirements for GIS solutions.
• Develop training materials and provide trainings to GIS users.
• Document program systems including replica reports, ETL docs, geodatabase standards.
