Job summary

IEM is seeking a Full Time SME - Geospatial Analyst to support emergency management and recovery projects nationwide. The role involves GIS design, analysis, and development of complex geospatial solutions with HEC-RAS, Hazus, and ArcGIS platform tools.

Candidates may work remotely within the United States and may travel as needed. Preferred candidates reside in Santa Fe, NM, or have ability to work from a home office while meeting project needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university (GIS-related).
  • 10 years' geospatial analysis experience with GIS/HEC-RAS and related tools.
  • Industry-standard certification (e.g., PE) for SME role.
  • Strong knowledge of Esri suite (ArcGIS Pro/Online, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Survey123, Spatial Analyst).
  • Hazus and HEC-RAS expertise for hazard modeling and pre/post-disaster impact estimation.
  • Experience handling 3DEP/LiDAR elevation data and geospatial data structures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform HEC-RAS 2D on grid modeling.
  • Develop high-quality static maps and web mapping apps using GIS techniques.
  • Create defensible maps/reports for erosion repair, risk reduction, and cascading impacts.
  • Design and maintain geographic data files and spatial data models.
  • Ensure data standards and quality control for data entry procedures.
  • Develop complex GIS projects using custom code (HTML/JS/Python).
  • Develop GIS web services from external feeds (CSV/JSON/XML/API).
  • Meet with customers to define business/functional requirements for GIS solutions.
  • Prepare training materials and deliver trainings to GIS users.
  • Document program systems with ETL, geodatabase quality control, and standards.
