About the Role

Our client, a respected name in the Oil & Gas exploration sector, is seeking a highly skilled Structural Geologist to bolster their geophysical team in Paarl, Western Cape . This crucial role involves the detailed analysis and interpretation of geological structures from seismic and other geophysical data to identify and de-risk hydrocarbon exploration prospects. You will be instrumental in understanding the complex subsurface architecture, fault systems, and trap integrity essential for successful exploration campaigns. The successful candidate will possess a strong academic background in structural geology and practical experience in applying these principles to subsurface exploration challenges within the Oil & Gas domain. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify and map geological structures, including faults, folds, and salt bodies.
• Perform structural modeling and restoration to understand basin evolution and trap formation.
• Integrate structural interpretations with stratigraphic and sedimentological data.
• Evaluate fault seal potential and impact on hydrocarbon migration and accumulation.
• Contribute to prospect generation and maturation by assessing structural risks and opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with geophysicists, sedimentologists, and petrolem engineers.
• Prepare detailed structural geology reports and presentations for internal review and decision-making.
• Stay abreast of advanced structural geology techniques and software applications.
• Provide expert advice on structural complexities affecting exploration and development planning.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geology or a related geoscience discipline with a specialization in structural geology.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in structural geology, with a strong emphasis on seismic interpretation within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency in industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, GeoDepth, Kingdom).
• Deep understanding of structural geology principles, tectonics, and basin analysis.
• Experience in fault seal analysis and kinematic modeling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geological datasets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
