Job summary

Terracon is seeking a senior Geophysicist to perform and lead a comprehensive range of geophysical surveys for geologic, groundwater, environmental, and engineering investigations in the Ashburn, VA area. You will define survey objectives, design approaches, analyze data, and interpret results to support infrastructure and environmental projects.

You will mentor junior Geophysicists, coordinate field teams, and contribute to written proposals and client meetings, ensuring safety and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geophysics.
• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience.
• Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
• Ability to obtain registration as a Professional Geophysicist.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.
• Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects.
• Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
• Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate geophysical work for major projects.
• Mentor junior Geophysicists and may serve as team leader.
• Perform geophysical analyses and assemble written reports.
• Attend client meetings on and off-site when required.
• Direct field staff to sample, test and collect data.
