Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Sr Level Geologist to support a variety of environmental projects, with emphasis on mining sites such as Superfund work. The candidate will lead field programs, document planning and reports for characterization and remediation.

Required are extensive field experience, familiarity with regulatory frameworks (CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, NEPA), and strong GIS/modeling skills. Domestic/international travel may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline.
• Registration as a licensed Professional Geologist (ASBOG).
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• MSHA training and field safety experience.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental investigations, site characterization, remediation, reclamation, or closure at mining sites.
• Oversee drilling programs, monitor well installation, lithologic/core logging, and hydrogeologic work.
• Evaluate metals fate, geochemistry, water quality, and contaminant migration in mining operations.
• Prepare SAPs, QAPPs, RI reports, Feasibility Studies, and permit applications.
• Develop geologic/hydrogeologic conceptual site models for projects.
• Use GIS and geologic modeling to support mine investigations and remediation.
