Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead projects for federal and public sector clients. You will mentor engineers and scientists, evaluate sediment remediation options, and communicate technical strategies to clients.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and about 7 years of related experience, with travel up to 10% and a focus on regulatory compliance across CERCLA, GLLA, and related programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise evaluating feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design sediment remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and port settings.
• Understand principles of sediment transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design and construction.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Act as CDM Smith’s task manager on complex sediment sites and communicate technical strategy to clients.
• Liaise with client, public, and outside consultants to explain technical evaluations and designs.
