Job summary
NV5 is seeking a Senior Geologist with 7–10 years of experience in engineering geology and geotechnical consulting to support municipal infrastructure and DSA-regulated projects in Ventura County and surrounding regions.
The role requires strong technical expertise in site characterization, geologic hazard evaluation, and geotechnical collaboration, plus experience with California regulatory frameworks including DSA. Salary ranges are disclosed and benefits include medical, PTO, 401(k).
Qualifications
- BS in Geology or related discipline; MS strongly preferred.
- CEG certification in California.
- 7–10 years of experience in geotechnical/engineering geology consulting.
- Experience on municipal/public works and CA DSA projects.
- Strong understanding of CBC and local grading regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering geology and geotechnical investigations.
- Conduct geologic mapping, subsurface interpretation and hazard assessments.
- Evaluate seismic hazards, liquefaction potential and slope stability.
- Prepare geotechnical and engineering geology reports.
- Develop subsurface models from borings, CPT and lab data.
- Coordinate field explorations and monitor construction activities.
- Support DSA submittals and responses to plan checks.
