Placements24 seeks a Senior Geologist to join our client’s exploration team in Welkom. You will interpret geological data, build 3D models, and assess hydrocarbon prospects to strengthen the asset portfolio within the Oil & Gas sector.

The ideal candidate has extensive exploration geology experience and excels in data interpretation, sedimentology, and basin analysis, working in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or related geoscience.
• 8+ years of experience in exploration geology, Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with modeling software Petrel and Geolog, and data interpretation tools.
• Strong sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and basin analysis.
• Excellent analytical, mapping, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team in Welkom region.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and integrate geological, geophysical, and engineering data to identify and evaluate hydrocarbon prospects.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models for exploration targets and existing fields.
• Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and presentations for management and technical reviews.
• Collaborate closely with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to develop integrated field development strategies.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Geologist to join their exploration team in Welkom . This role is vital for identifying and evaluating new hydrocarbon prospects and contributing to the strategic growth of the company's asset portfolio within the Oil & Gas industry . You will be responsible for interpreting geological data, constructing geological models, and assessing the potential of prospective areas. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in exploration geology and a passion for discovery in the challenging environments of the Free State .

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and integrate geological, geophysical, and engineering data to identify and evaluate hydrocarbon prospects.
