About the Role

Our client, a prominent entity in the Oil & Gas exploration sector, is seeking a talented and driven Geologist to join their growing team based in Welkom, Free State. This role is integral to the identification, evaluation, and development of new exploration opportunities and existing assets. The geologist will be responsible for interpreting geological and geophysical data, constructing subsurface models, and assessing resource potential to guide strategic investment decisions. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic, well log, and core data to delineate geological structures and stratigraphy.
• Build and refine 3D geological models of subsurface reservoirs.

• Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and other geoscientists to integrate data and generate prospectivity maps.
• Conduct geological risk assessments for exploration and development projects.
• Prepare detailed geological reports, presentations, and recommendations for management.
• Participate in field trips and data acquisition campaigns as needed.
• Stay updated on the latest geological technologies and methodologies.
• Contribute to the company's exploration strategy and business development initiatives.
• Ensure all geological activities in the Welkom area adhere to company policies and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geological interpretation and subsurface modeling, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency in geological interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, GeoGraphix).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, sedimentology, and stratigraphy.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and well log analysis techniques.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and presentation abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Previous experience in the Free State or surrounding regions is advantageous.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa.
