Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a leading independent exploration and production company within the Oil & Gas industry, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geologist to bolster their exploration and development team based in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This crucial role involves detailed geological analysis, prospect identification, and contributing to the development strategies of new and existing fields. The Senior Geologist will be responsible for interpreting subsurface data, integrating various geological datasets, and providing critical insights to support drilling decisions and resource assessments. This hybrid position requires a deep understanding of geological principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological interpretations of seismic data, well logs, and core samples.
• Identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon exploration prospects and development opportunities.
• Develop and refine geological models, including structural and stratigraphic interpretations.
• Integrate geological data with engineering and geophysical information to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Assess geological risks and uncertainties associated with exploration and development projects.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in exploration and development geology within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and geological modeling.
• Proficiency with industry-standard geological software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix, Kingdom).
• Strong understanding of basin analysis, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Proven ability to assess geological risk and estimate resources.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, hybrid team environment.
• Experience in the Northern Cape or similar geological settings is advantageous.
