About the Role Our client, a prominent player in the natural resources sector operating in the vicinity of Welkom, Free State , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geoscientist with a specialization in Exploration Geochemistry. This role is crucial for identifying and evaluating new mineral deposit opportunities. You will lead geochemical exploration programs, interpret complex geological and geochemical data, and provide critical insights to guide exploration strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage geochemical sampling programs (soil, stream sediment, rock, and drill core).
• Interpret geochemical data using statistical and multivariate analysis techniques to identify exploration targets.
• Integrate geochemical data with geological, geophysical, and structural information for comprehensive prospect evaluation.
• Develop and refine geochemical models for various deposit types relevant to the region.
• Supervise and mentor junior geoscientists and field technicians.
• Collaborate with exploration teams to define drill targets and exploration strategies.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management.
• Ensure data quality and adherence to best practices in geochemical exploration.
• Stay current with advancements in exploration geochemistry and related geoscience disciplines.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Geology, Geochemistry, or a related geoscience field.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in mineral exploration, with a strong focus on geochemistry.
• Demonstrated expertise in exploration geochemistry techniques and data interpretation.
• Proficiency in geochemical data analysis software (e.g., ioGAS, ARCGIS, Python with relevant libraries).
• Solid understanding of economic geology and mineral deposit formation.
• Experience with various deposit styles, particularly those prevalent in the region.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to produce clear and concise reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
