Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geologist to join a dynamic mining exploration team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, responsible for planning and executing exploration programs and interpreting geological data.

The role requires 7+ years in mineral exploration, strong database management, and experience with geophysical surveys and drilling. You will mentor staff, ensure safety, and contribute to resource modeling and reporting.

• BSc Honours or MSc in Geology or Economic Geology from a recognized university.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with focus on base metals, precious metals or critical minerals.
• Proven field experience in diverse geological environments and strong ore deposit formation understanding.
• Proficiency in geological mapping, logging, and sampling techniques.
• Experience with geophysical surveys, geochemical analysis, and drilling programs.
• Software skills for mapping, modeling, and data analysis (ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Datamine, ioGAS).
• Strong project management, independent work, and leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; valid driver’s license and willingness to fieldwork.
• Professional geologist registration is desirable.

About the Role

You will be responsible for planning and executing exploration programs, interpreting geological data, and contributing to resource modeling and estimation. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage geological databases and maintain accurate geological records.

• Collaborate with geophysicists, geochemists, and resource modelers to integrate data and interpretations.


• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and proposals for exploration projects.

Requirements

• B.Sc. Honours or M.Sc. in Geology or Economic Geology from a recognized university.
