Job summary

Baylor Genetics is seeking a Senior Genetic Counselor Assistant to support genetic counselors and clinical teams in delivering high-quality genetics services. You will manage patient records, assist with family history intake, and help with education for patients.

You will organize data in EHR systems, coordinate tests, and collaborate with physicians and counselors to ensure compassionate, confidential care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in genetics, biology or a related field.
• Certification as a Genetic Counselor Assistant or relevant experience preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in genetic counseling.
• Solid understanding of genetic terminology and basic genetic principles.
• Experience handling patient information in compliance with privacy regulations (HIPAA).

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial patient interviews and collect detailed family history for counselors.
• Ensure accurate and timely entry of patient data into EHR systems.
• Coordinate and maintain patient files and test results with confidentiality.
• Assist in genetic counseling sessions and provide educational resources to patients.
• Educate patients on genetic conditions and testing options under counselor guidance.
• Provide emotional support to patients during counseling as needed.
• Prepare educational materials and respond to patient inquiries about testing and results.
• Schedule follow-ups and coordinate outreach programs or workshops.
• Collaborate with physicians, genetic counselors, and other providers to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain compliance with privacy laws and accreditation standards.
