Job summary

Apple Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to bridge backend machine learning and the final user interface, translating foundation model capabilities into intuitive experiences.

You will design intelligent user experiences that leverage large language models and Retrieval-Augmented Generation, integrating with data and services from multiple providers to deliver fast, secure, and context-aware features.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience in collaborative environments.
• Experience with prompt engineering and prompt tuning techniques with quantitative evaluation metrics.
• Strong product sense and focus on end user experience.
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Proficient in at least two programming languages such as: C/C++, Go, Python, Java.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement intelligent user experiences leveraging LLMs and RAG architectures.
• Orchestrate ML APIs with internal data/services ensuring secure data handling.
• Collaborate with design, product, and client-side teams to craft generative UI solutions with reliable text streaming and dynamic widgets.
• Work with ML infrastructure, data, and platform teams to define system contracts and scalable orchestration.
• Develop telemetry and benchmarking to measure real-time model performance in production.
• Support globalization efforts and mentor engineers to broaden team impact.
