Apple Inc. seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer in Seattle to drive Generative AI initiatives across Apple Services Engineering. You will design, deploy, and scale LLM-powered systems for personalized experiences and large-scale understanding.

You will lead research in NLP, representation learning, and RAG, while mentoring teams and shaping AI strategy with measurable impact across Apple’s services ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent industry experience in production AI systems.
• At least 6 years in applied research or machine learning roles.
• Expert knowledge of deep learning and modern NLP, incl. transformer architectures.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and deploy LLM-powered systems for Apple Services.
• Lead research in large-scale representation learning and NLP.
• Develop embeddings and model architectures for complex data behaviors.
• Drive LLM fine-tuning, evaluation, safety alignment, and optimization.
• Explore parameter-efficient adaptation and RLHF techniques for production use.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design to translate problems into ML solutions.
• Build prototypes and production-grade solutions for text, behavior signals, and domain knowledge.
• Contribute to leadership in AI via publications, patents, and thought leadership.
• Mentor researchers and elevate code quality and scientific rigor.
