Job summary

System One seeks an AI Engineer to build production generative AI applications in a hybrid role based in Atlanta, GA or the Washington DC/MD/VA area. Direct Hire with compensation around $155,000 and a mix of onsite and remote work.

You will develop with Python, Azure AI Foundry, OpenAI tools, and RAG workflows, collaborating with software, AI/ML, data, cloud and DevSecOps teams to deliver scalable, secure cloud-native services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in software engineering, web development, data engineering, data science or ML.
• 1+ years building generative AI or agentic AI solutions, including LLM APIs, prompt engineering, tool calling, RAG or agents.
• Experience with Python, APIs, backend services, data pipelines, and web frameworks.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON interfaces, authentication, and external integrations.
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms, including deployment/integration with cloud-hosted services.
• Proficient in modern software development practices (Git, GitHub, Jira, PRs, code reviews, Agile/Scrum).
• Knowledge of LLM application fundamentals: tokens, context, prompts, model parameters, embeddings, retrieval.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust or suitability determination if required.
• U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance production generative AI applications and web-based AI solutions.
• Develop AI apps using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, and Foundry Agent Service.
• Create RAG systems, knowledge assistants, chatbots, and agentic workflows.
• Implement agent/LlM workflows with tools, structured outputs, guardrails and human review.
• Integrate AI apps with APIs, data sources, and cloud services.
• Develop secure, cloud-native services and UIs using Python and containers on Azure.
• Test, evaluate, and monitor AI apps to improve quality, latency, and cost.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, software engineers, architects and DevSecOps teams.
