Job summary

KeyBank is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Generative AI Innovation to lead hands-on development of AI-driven solutions for Institutional Banking. You will prototype, evaluate, and deliver GenAI capabilities, collaborating with stakeholders to translate ideas into production-ready software and governance-compliant implementations.

The role emphasizes autonomy, technical curiosity, and the ability to navigate evolving GenAI landscapes while aligning with governance and risk controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience developing web-based or distributed applications.
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI technologies, large language models, or related emerging technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy GenAI solutions using modern software engineering practices and cloud-native technologies.
• Evaluate, prototype, and validate GenAI capabilities, platforms, tools, and vendors for Institutional Banking use cases.
• Develop AI-enabled applications and workflows using LLMs, RAG, agentic AI frameworks, and APIs.
• Transform business ideas into working software through rapid prototyping and experimentation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Institutional Banking to identify high-value AI opportunities.
• Provide input for governance, risk, compliance, and model review processes for AI initiatives.
• Assist governance submissions by articulating approaches, risks, and implementation considerations.
• Research industry trends and communicate findings to leadership about GenAI opportunities.
• Design and implement integrations between AI platforms, enterprise systems, and cloud services.
• Establish engineering standards and reusable patterns for AI solution development.
• Independently develop clean, secure, and testable code.
• Create technical documentation and reference architectures to support adoption.
