Job Summary

Perform a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds in multiple locations, including carpentry and painting tasks.

Primary Duties

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Perform minor and major troubleshooting and repairs to all buildings and facilities, including general maintenance, electrical reports, HVAC repair, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry work.
  • Perform basic rough and finish carpentry work, prepare surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, stain, or repair wall coverings.
  • Provide routine general maintenance for rental properties, including coordination with outside vendors.
  • Respond promptly to scheduled and unscheduled tenant requests for maintenance issues.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials manually, using pallets, platforms, and boxes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required.
  • Assist in freight and material handling as needed.
  • Maintain the upkeep and housekeeping of the loading dock and warehouse storage areas.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee. Comply with OSHA guidelines.
  • Participate in all required training, including Human Rights training.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in carpentry and painting required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in building maintenance and repairs required.
  • HVAC and electrical certifications preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • CDL license and driving experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have own tools.
  • HUD/affordable housing experience required.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, memos, labels, and numbers.
  • Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, reach, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to walk, sit, lift or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, and depth perception.

Work Environment

The environment is usually quiet, with typical noise levels.
