Job summary

Jobot seeks a Permanent General Liability Attorney to join our litigation team in Houston, TX. Handle high-stakes general liability matters from discovery to trial and appeal, including insurance defense, premises and product liability, trucking and asbestos.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of trial experience, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to manage a heavy caseload with professionalism and ethics.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a trial attorney, preferably in general liability.
• Proven experience with insurance defense, premises liability, product liability, trucking and transportation, toxic tort, and asbestos.
• Exceptional legal research and writing skills.
• Experience with deposition, motion practice, discovery, and case management.
• Strong trial practice experience, including appeals.
• Knowledge of arbitration and mediation.
• Ability to manage a high caseload and work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• High ethical standards and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Representing clients in all stages of litigation, from filing responsive pleadings to trial and appeal.
• Preparing and arguing motions, taking and defending depositions, and engaging in discovery.
• Handling a caseload of general liability matters, including insurance defense, premises liability, product liability, trucking and transportation, toxic tort, and asbestos.
• Conducting extensive legal research and analysis to develop case strategies.
• Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Negotiating settlements, mediating disputes, and representing clients in arbitration proceedings.
• Collaborating with other attorneys and support staff to ensure effective case management.
• Maintaining compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations, and standards, as well as ethical rules of professional conduct.
