Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. is seeking a Senior Claims Examiner, Casualty, to actively manage high-severity, complex general liability claims across the United States.

The role requires strong negotiation, technical expertise and collaboration with underwriters, counsel and brokers in a fast-paced environment. The position offers a hybrid in-office schedule with 3 days per week in the office and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of casualty claims experience with primary or excess carrier
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Willing and able to travel up to 10%

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess coverage issues, draft coverage position letters, and retain coverage counsel as needed.
• Develop and implement strategy related to coverage issues and overall matters.
• Develop timely resolution strategies to mitigate indemnity and expense exposures.
• Maintain contact with claims staff, underwriter, defense counsel, broker and senior management.
• Investigate claims and review insureds’ materials, pleadings and documents.
• Review jurisdictional statutes, rules and case law.
• Review litigation materials including depositions and experts’ reports.
• Analyze coverage, liability and damages for reserves and settlements.
• Retain counsel and direct counsel per resolution strategy.
• Prepare and present written/oral reports to senior management on issues and reserves.
• Travel to attend mediations, trials, and proceedings within the United States.
• Negotiate resolutions of claims.
• Maintain a diary of claims and post reserves promptly.
