Job summary

Sedigwick Claims Management Services is seeking a Claims Examiner specializing in Auto and General Liability with focus on New Jersey. You will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve high-exposure general liability claims while upholding client service standards.

Role involves managing litigated matters, reserving, and coordinating with defense counsel and vendors to achieve timely resolutions and cost containment. A strong background in liability claims and subrogation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Five years of claims handling experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience handling complex general liability claims preferred.
• Litigation management experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Industry certifications relevant to the line of business are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and manage complex or technically challenging general liability claims from inception through resolution.
• Conduct thorough investigations to determine liability, damages, and claim exposure.
• Develop and execute strategic claim action plans to drive timely and appropriate outcomes.
• Assess liability and negotiate settlements within delegated authority.
• Calculate, establish, and maintain reserves throughout the life of the claim.
• Authorize and process claim payments and adjustments within delegated authority.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and client requirements.
• Prepare and submit required state filings within deadlines.
• Report claims to excess carriers and respond to information requests.
• Manage litigated claims with defense counsel and external partners.
• Coordinate vendor referrals for investigations, medical reviews, surveillance, and litigation management.
• Utilize cost-containment strategies and vendor partnerships to reduce claim costs.
• Pursue and manage claim recoveries, including subrogation and offsets.
• Maintain proactive communication with claimants, clients, attorneys, and stakeholders.
