Job summary

Texas General Land Office is seeking an Accountant VI within the Financial Management Department to perform advanced (senior-level) accounting work under minimal supervision. The role will plan, direct, and review the allocation of state and federal funds, oversee general ledger activities, and support budget and financial reporting for agency programs.

Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, reconciling ledgers, coordinating the annual financial report, and ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
• Two years of development, financial analysis, review of financial data.
• Two years experience with CAPPS Financials modules and general ledger activities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and direct periodic financial statements, analyses, and reports per GASB and state reporting requirements.
• Prepare and review general ledger accounting entries and reconciliation of financial transactions.
• Coordinate the planning, development, and submission of the agency's annual financial report in accordance with GASB and state requirements.
• Oversee the detailed reporting of expenditures and encumbrances across program areas.
