Job summary

The Texas General Land Office seeks a Director V for the Budget & Planning Division to lead budgeting, strategic planning, and policy development. This senior role oversees division activities, HR functions, and coordination with executive leadership, ensuring alignment with state fiscal goals.

The position requires extensive experience in state budgeting, financial management, and project leadership, with responsibilities spanning reporting, compliance, and external representation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or related field.
• Each year of related experience beyond the requirement may substitute for college credit.
• Four years leading the preparation of state budget reporting (LAR, Base Reconciliation, Performance Measures).
• Five years of supervisory or senior budget analyst experience.
• Ten years of progressively responsible budget experience.
• Work outside normal hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Leads Budget and Planning Division, directing program activities and aligning with strategic goals.
• Oversees budgeting process, funding streams, audits, forecasts, and fiscal notes.
• Develops policies, procedures, and guidelines for budget compliance and performance.
• Represents the division at meetings, hearings, and legislative sessions; communicates with leadership.
