Job summary

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) seeks an Accountant VI to perform senior-level accounting work, including financial analysis, reconciliations, and reporting under GASB. The role involves overseeing accounting systems, controls, and potentially supervising staff, with reporting to the General Ledger Manager.

Required are a four-year degree in a business field and at least four years in general ledger accounting, with strong Excel/Word skills and willingness to work extra

Qualifications

• Requires four years of experience in general ledger accounting, accounting controls, and/or auditing.
• Experience with preparing, analyzing, and auditing financial reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
• Must be willing to work extra hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays).

Responsibilities

• Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis, reconciliations, and reports.
• Prepares and audits general ledger entries and deposits.
• Oversees unclaimed property reporting for the State of Texas and other states.
• Coordinates upgrades to the gaming system during project planning, development, and implementation phases.
• Prepares financial statements and coordinates the agency’s annual financial reports in GASB and state requirements.
• Provides backup for weekly sales reports, monthly transfer calculations, and reconciliations.
• Analyzes and recommends improvements to accounting systems and procedures.
• Develops and revises department policies and procedures.
• May supervise staff and provide training as needed.
