Job summary

TEEMA in Highland, IL seeks a Senior General Accountant to lead monthly and annual closes, budgeting, and inventory analyses. You’ll support general accounting functions, drive process improvements, and coordinate with other departments on financial reporting and audits.

The role requires at least 5 years of accounting experience, a bachelor's degree, strong MS Office skills, and familiarity with Oracle; some travel may be required.

• Broad knowledge of accounting principles for corporate activities.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Experience with Oracle is a plus.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for certain monthly and annual financial close processes and reporting needs
• Prepare and analyze business activity to support financial forecasting and planning
• Prepare and maintain certain monthly financial analysis and account reconciliations
• Participate in the budget process, including preparation of appropriate schedules and analysis
• Ensure certain general ledger transactions are recorded and classified accurately and timely
• Provide support for the year-end audit process
• Lead and take ownership of projects from start to finish, including identifying project timeline, resources needed, and managing the project to ensure it is completed accurately and timely
• Support other areas within the department when technical or capacity issues arise
• Tracking and maintaining fixed assets
• Certain inventory analysis and cost accounting responsibilities
• Supporting international entities within areas of responsibility
• Providing support when needed to the general accountants
• Assisting in identifying areas of improvement and developing procedures to automate and improve efficiencies
• Other duties and special projects as requested

Overview:
This position is a senior member of the Accounting/Finance department, providing a high level of analytical support and taking on lead roles in projects. The role also supports areas of need that arise within the department, including support of the general accountants, and is responsible for identifying opportunities and driving solutions to improve the department. This offers wide exposure to the various accounting functions within the company, with much of the involvement in daily, monthly, and annual finance processes — including monthly and annual closings, budgeting, and physical inventory, and potentially payroll, tax, and/or cost accounting
functions as assigned.

What you will be doing:

What you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business degree
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience
• Ability to apply a broad knowledge of accounting principles to a variety of corporate accounting activities, ranging from routine daily transactions to complex analyses
• Strong skill set with Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with Oracle software is a plus
• Willingness to travel as needed
