Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 5 for its GenAI Platform and Agentic Infrastructure in San Francisco. You will design and scale AI systems, collaborate with engineers, researchers, and product managers, and optimize foundation models for production quality and cost-efficiency.

You will work with Open Source and SaaS AI tech like Huggingface, PyTorch, and vector databases, driving responsible AI and governance across the platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters with strong AI/ML development experience as described.
• Proven coding experience in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA or Java.
• Experience scaling and deploying AI/ML systems in production.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies (AWS, Huggingface, PyTorch).
• Develop foundation model optimization to improve latency, cost, and throughput.
• Contribute to long-term roadmap of Capital One AI systems.
• Build multi-model orchestration pipelines across LLMs and domain models.
• Lead governance reviews for cost-performance and resource use.
• Participate in design councils to ensure technical consistency.
• Mentor engineers across principal and manager levels.
