Job summary

Allison Transmission in Lafayette, IN seeks a Senior Gear Systems Engineer to lead design and research for Off-Highway gearboxes, focusing on new gear designs, optimization, and manufacturing methods.

You will interpret customer specs, size hardware, support purchasing and production, review DFMEAs and DVP&Rs, mentor peers, and drive cost-saving VAVE initiatives while collaborating across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 1+ years of bevel and/or cylindrical gear powertrain engineering experience.
• 1+ years of gear design software experience (KissSoft, Gleason, Klingelnberg or Romax).

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer specs to design complete gearbox systems meeting performance requirements.
• Size and select bearings, seals, o-rings and related hardware for gearboxes.
• Provide technical support during sourcing, development, launch and production.
• Review DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, APQP and PPAPs.
• Mentor and train junior gear engineers.
• Perform benchmarking and develop VAVE cost-saving projects.
