Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Gas Senior/Principal Distribution Designer in a hybrid role within the United States. The position involves delivering complex distribution design for gas facilities, coordinating with customers, government officials, and project teams, and mentoring junior designers.

Travel may be required for site work and emergencies. Two seniority levels are described with competitive hourly pay ranges, a benefits package, and opportunities to advance within a large energy provider

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with 5+ years design experience for Senior level.
• 9+ years design experience; preference for Sr. Designer experience.
• Knowledge of GIS, design software and work management programs.
• Experience with transmission, substation, or distribution design.
• Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Design safe operating facilities per Xcel Energy standards with cost-effective designs.
• Manage projects from initial contact through post-project analysis and budgeting.
• Mentor Designers and provide backup leadership to the Designer Manager.
• Coordinate with government officials, contractors, and engineers to serve customers.
